Immigrant Youth Leadership Training!

Civic Engagement Alliance (YCEA) is a leadership training program which aims to promote a strong sense of Canadian identity and citizenship by providing immigrant youth with leadership skills, service learning and cross-cultural bridging opportunities. The program consists of 5 components including mentorship, youth leadership training, business/entrepreneur skills training, service learning and recreation.

Youth will be matched with mentors from well integrated Canadian communities who will support the youth with social, cultural, educational and advocacy needs. Youth leadership training includes topics on Canadian identity, multiculturalism and immigration, roles and responsibilities of Canadian citizens, health, conflict resolution, business/entrepreneurship skills, interpersonal and intercultural skills development. Youth will volunteer in community projects of their choice which will be critical for individual service learning development and civic engagement. Recreational opportunities in the form of youth championships will be provided to help youth reach out to other diverse communities.

Who can attend? Immigrant youth age 16-30 yrs.

Where? Edmonton Immigrant Services Association Suite #201, 10720 – 113st).

When? Saturdays from 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The mentorship component of the program requires the contributions of individuals who play a significant role in the youth’s lives by building caring relationships.
