2012 PARC Symposium
Each year PARC hosts a Physical Activity Symposium which provides an engaging and practical professional development opportunity for physical activity promoters across Ontario. This year’s Symposium will take place Monday, May 14th – Tuesday, May 15th at the University of Western Ontario in London and will host Public and Community Health professionals, recreationist and others who have an interest in physical activity promotion.
Hate Crime Awareness Day/Workshops
The Alberta Hate Crimes Committee (AHCC) invites all Albertans to participate in the third annual Hate Crime Awareness Day on April 24, 2012, when communities, governments and police unite to send the message that hate crimes will not be tolerated. This year's theme is "Supporting Victims of Hate/Bias Crime and Activities." This event is part of National Victims of Crime Awareness Week, April 23 to 27, 2012. Workshops and events will be hosted in six centres across Alberta, including Calgary, Lethbridge, Brooks, Red Deer, Edmonton and Fort McMurray. Blair Mason, Chief of the Commission and Tribunals, Alberta Human Rights Commission, will be speaking at the Calgary event.
Women in Leadership Workshops
Alberta Sport Development Centre Central (ASDCC) is very excited to be hosting 2 Women in Leadership Workshops. We would like to invite women working or volunteering in the sport or active living communities, recreation field or school system to join us for these free workshops on March 3. They include: Workshop 1 - Conflict Resolution and Workshop 2 - Influencing Change.
Enterprising Non Profits Alberta “Building your Social Enterprise” workshops
Enterprising Non-Profits Alberta (enp-ab) provides grants and technical assistance to non-profit organizations supporting the development or growth of their social enterprises. Enp-ab invites interested non-profits and charitable organizations within Alberta to join us for our spring 2012 Building your Social Enterprise workshops. The workshop is for all organizations, regardless of cause, to learn more about social enterprise or to refresh their knowledge.

HIGH FIVE® Workshops for the month of January
The Alberta Recreation and Parks Association (ARPA) is hosting a series of workshops in January and February 2012. These workshop provides in depth training in the HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development as well as will help supervisors and management to improve the quality of children's programs by learning how to measure it with the HIGH FIVE® scientifically validated Tool.
Brampton Creative Economy Summit
The objective of the HACE (Heritage, Arts, Culture and Entertainment) Creative Economy Summit is to promote awareness of the creative economy and Brampton’s role within it and to educate and define the creative economy by sharing information and best practices and creating a networking environment for members of the creative economy. The summit will be designed to generate excitement and share experiences as it relates to the creative economy. Date: February 2, 2012
Human Rights in the Workplace public workshops, Winter 2012
The Commission has scheduled three Human Rights in the Workplace public workshops for winter 2012. The full-day workshops, intended for managers, supervisors, team leaders, human resource professionals, union leaders and small business owners will provide participants with: 1) an overview of Alberta's human rights legislation, 2)information from the workshop module Duty to accommodate and 3)an understanding of harassment in the workplace and strategies to prevent such harassment.
ACCA Attracting Local Capital videoconference
The Alberta Community and Cooperative Association (ACCA) invites interested groups or communities to participate in its November 30th Rise and Shine videoconference on "Attracting Local Capital". The session will examine success stories in Alberta where local communities raised capital to enable the ownership transition of local businesses.
CALL FOR PRESENTERS - YDRS
The YOUTH DEVELOPMENT THROUGH RECREATION SYMPOSIUM (YDRS) is organized by Alberta Recreation and Parks Association to provide a forum for advancing knowledge about the contributions of recreation programs and services with the overall goal of meeting the needs of children and youth in our communities. The YDRS Symposium aims to provide information about children and youth development promoting the delivery and expansion of positive development through sport, recreation, physical activity, education and general health promotion. Alberta Recreation and Parks Association (ARPA) along with the 2012 YDRS planning committee is now accepting applications for presentations at the 2012 YDRS Symposium. This bi-annual event attracts delegates from municipal recreation and community services departments, not for profit groups, community sport groups, public health, educational institutions and social service organizations. The 2012 YDRS Symposium will be held March 11-13 in Edmonton, Alberta.
