Human Rights in the Workplace public workshops
You can still register for upcoming Human Rights in the Workplace public workshops. The full-day public workshops, intended for managers, supervisors, team leaders, human resource professionals, union leaders, and small business owners, will provide participants with: 1) an overview of Alberta's human rights legislation, 2) information from the workshop module Duty to accommodate, and 3) an understanding of harassment in the workplace and strategies to prevent such harassment.
Deadline Approaches for ARDN Call for Presentations
Have you submitted your proposal to present at ARDN's Creating Rural Connections 2012 Conference and Tradeshow? The conference is from October 11-13, 2012 at Olds College and is focused on Regional Realities and Approaches. There's still time to get a proposal in to share your experience, knowledge, or best practices with delegates from across Canada. The deadline is April 27, 2012.

The Creating Rural Connections 2012 Conference and Tradeshow

Held from October 11 to 13, 2012 at Olds College in Olds, Alberta, the Alberta Rural Development Network is hosting this national conference in partnership with the Canadian Rural Revitalization Foundation and Olds College.

Governed by the Social Credit from 1935 to 1971, and by the Progressive Conservatives since then, the province has earned a reputation for political stability. A Place to Belong Workshop: Supporting People with Disabilities in Everyday Community Activities
This 2 hour, innovative workshop on April 11th by popular presenter Cara Milne of M-Powered Planning Ltd., is designed for any clubs, sport teams, church groups and community groups that would like to better include people with disabilities. It will give usable and practical information so that community groups can create an atmosphere of belonging. The workshop will include handouts and resources.

“Rural Communities in Alberta and Canada: The Three Pillars of Sustainability” Lecture
Join Dr. Lars Hallström and Shauna Feth as they explore the social, economic and environmental factors that make up rural Alberta and how they affect and change rural communities. Dr. Hallström will discuss sustainable development, focusing on water and water policy in Alberta as a benchmark for rural sustainability. Feth will present a multimedia case study highlighting the economic and social challenges of rural areas. The speakers will conclude with a discussion about the ways in which rural communities present opportunities for innovative public policies, new approaches to planning and citizen engagement.
