A Project of Tides Canada Initiatives: ArtBridges/ToileDesArts is a unique, emerging and free Canada-wide web-based social network, forum and information hub for community arts programs, resources, organizations and projects. ArtBridges/ToileDesArts’ focus is on under-resourced and under-serviced communities across Canada. ArtBridges/ToileDesArts aims to inform and connect people about community arts in Canada and the benefits of arts for social change, arts for community development and arts for social engagement. ArtBridges/ToileDesArts aims to increase knowledge, initiate cooperation and collaborations, mobilize resources and strengthen the sector through sharing of successes, models, best practices and resources.

Artscape Launches New Online DIY Resource for Creative Placemaking and City-Building Through the Arts: "Artscape DIY, the go-to source for all the tools and resources and inspiration you’ll need to get started on your own cultural facility development. Explore the practice of creative placemaking and get inspired!" As you explore the site you will find case studies, tools and resources, including downloadable templates and examples, films, guides and articles designed to help you through the often complex and risky business of developing sustainable, affordable space for culture and creativity which responds and contributes to the transformation and revitalization of communities.

National survey of Joint Use Agreements

CPRA and ARPA are active partners in "The Canadian Active After School Partnership" which is now conducting a national survey of Joint Use Agreements with school boards / school districts, to assist in the development of tools and resources for municipalities, community groups, nonprofit agencies, and school boards/school districts in developing future Joint Use Agreements. Your CPRA task group appreciates your support and participation in this project. The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete and responses will be kept confidential and anonymous. Your input will be helpful, even if you do not have an agreement in place.

Our goal is to help Alberta students live, learn and play in these types of environments while making it possible for these school communities to connect and share in beneficial resources.

Built Environment Inventory

Built Environment Inventory of case studies, guidelines, tools and key papers from - NCCEH - Update / Dernières mises à jour - CCNSE. The inventory is a list of more than 150 case studies, guidelines, tools and key scientific papers that may be helpful in creating healthier built environments. It is intended to support policy makers in local and regional governments, urban planners, medical health officers and researchers. Each resource has a brief description that is available in English and French. The inventory can be searched by theme, type of resource and target population.

Shape Up

Shape Up is a free online resource that brings the spirit of the Leafs, Marlies, Raptors, and Toronto FC to the classroom, helping to make Daily Physical Activity and H&PE fun and easy for both teachers and students. In partnership with Ophea, Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Ltd. has created six downloadable resource packages – two each for Soccer, Basketball, and Hockey – including activity cards and support materials such as circuit station cards, mission sheets and video demonstrations.

RBC After School Grants Project accepting applications for funding

RBC announced its call for grant applications for this year's After-School Grants Project, which is offering more than $2 million to fund first-time and renewed grant recipients. Funding is awarded by regional community panels made up of experts in the fields of youth and education. Organizations wishing to apply should have a mandate to keep students in grades K-12 safe and positively engaged through an enriched curriculum when their classes end each day. Grants of up to $40,000 are provided by the RBC Foundation to programs located in at-risk or underserved communities. The deadline for funding applications is March 12, 2012, and grant recipients will be advised by June 2012. For more information visit: http://www.rbc.com.

Air Aware

Air Aware is a FREE, bilingual, curriculum-connected program that educates Canadians about the connections between active living, air quality and respiratory health, specifically asthma and allergy. This free resource for schools, community groups, sport and recreation teams, coaches and administrators consists of an engaging, educational presentation delivered by a Clean Air Champion (Olympic, Paralympic or National Team athlete), optional activities, and access to the Air Aware website and resources.
