Grants from Communities ChooseWell

Posted on: May 03 2011 | Posted in: Arts, Culture, & Heritage

Communities ChooseWell officially relaunched on April 13th, 2011 in Leduc and is now focusing on providing supports for communities across Alberta to promote healthy eating and active living. Many initiatives are underway including the introduction of ChooseWell webinars, toolkits and now the ChooseWell seed funding grant opportunity.

Communities ChooseWell 2011 is providing an opportunity for ten communities in Alberta to access $2,000 seed grants to undertake innovative work around reducing barriers to healthy living for teens and tweens. Through the process of identifying and overcoming barriers to healthy living for teens and tweens, a community may establish a greater sense of interagency collaboration and an atmosphere of inclusion. This encourages and facilitates better health among all community members.

For this reason, these funds are being made available to ten Alberta communities for the initiation or expansion of initiatives impacting teens and tweens, or for programs that encourage leadership from these youth.
