Are you interested in:
– connecting and learning from others providing recreation and sport in rural aboriginal settings? – tools and resources to support you in delivering the benefits of recreation, sports, arts and culture? – strengthening your role as a community leader?
We’re looking for recreation practitioners who believe sport, recreation, arts and culture makes a difference to individuals and their communities. If you are one of them and are currently in a position either as a paid staff member or volunteer responsible for delivering sport and recreation in rural settings to aboriginal communities, we invite you to join us at the first Alberta Aboriginal Recreation Leaders Summit from Thursday October 15th noon to Friday, October 16th 2:00 pm at Sylvan Lake.
You provide the passion and enthusiasm and we’ll provide accommodation in a rustic, retreat setting in Sylvan Lake, onsite meals and mileage, and two days of conversation and learning from one another.
In exchange, the Alberta Recreation and Parks Association (www.arpaonline.ca) and its ACE Communities initiative (www.acecommunities.ca) in partnership with the Indigenous Sport Council (Alberta) (www.aboriginalsports.org) will be seeking your input and direction to help us better understand how we can support your efforts in delivering the benefits of sports, recreation, arts, and culture in your community.
If you are interested, please RSVP to Rose Carmichael at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or 780-643-1774 by noon on Monday, October 5th to reserve your place as space is limited to 25. Additional details will follow once your indication of interest has been received.
This event has been made possible as the result of support from Rural Alberta’s Development Fund (RADF). We look forward to connecting!
